Police operatives from the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, Ikeja, led by CSP Peter Gana, have arrested two suspected robbers, who invaded a Catholic Church, allegedly carted away a Toyota Corolla car and escaped.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Our Lady Queen of Apostle Church, Lakowe, Lagos.
It was gathered that a woman, Emmanuella Nwachukwu, had attended Mass with her Toyota Corolla with registration number AKD 146 CY valued over N3m. She was inside the Church when the robbers reportedly disconnected the security put in place, carted away the vehicle and escaped.
However, the alleged theft was reported to FSARS, who moved into action, arrested the two suspects and recovered the vehicle.
After interrogation, the suspects Uchenna Aghabalu, 41 and Abolarin Kamoru, 35, were charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and stealing.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Peter Nwaogwugwu, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Y.O. Aje-Afunwa, granted the suspects bail in the sum of N600,000 with two sureties in like sum.
However, they were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 17th March, 2020.
