Robbery operations in the Ajegunle axis of Lagos have compounded problems for mad people in the area as jungle justice had been declared against them by the residents.

This was coming on the heels of stern warning by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni who warned and threatened to prosecute any body caught carrying out jungle justice on any victim for whatever reason in the state.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that there was a new decision in the area by the residents to kill destitutes suspected to be mentally deranged persons in Ajegunle and beyond. It was gathered that the latest threats to the destitutes followed terrible experiences some residents had over attack by the men of the underworld who disguised as mad people to plan their attacks.
The development had put the life of the destitutes in jeopardy as they suffer mob attack being mistaken for armed robbers and ritualists.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the residents have warned the mad people to either cure their madness or take them elsewhere as they were not ready to tolerate them in the area.
Some residents who confirmed the incident said the decision was spontaneous due to several attacks and the residents descended on the mad people.

“Some mad people have regained their senses while some have died by mob action and some others forced to leave the area” a resident said.

One of the residents revealed that some robbers were caught with mobile phones, sim cards and other valuable items to the surprise of the residents after they had pretended as mad people.
However, when the suspects were arrested and they confessed that they were not mad people but disguised to execute their operations in the area. It was gathered that it was after that incident that mad people were no longer spared, and they started killing them one by one in the area.

But CP Owoseni condemned the acts and said those who were doing such were breaching the laws of the land and will be prosecuted.
