The police have intensified efforts to unravel the circumstances that led to the disappearance of electricity cables at a General Hospital that threw the place into darkness.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the Alimosho General Hospital in Igando area of Alimosho Local Government in Lagos.
It was gathered that the robbers went to the hospital at night and disconnected all the cables inside the building and escaped. However, what surprised many including the police was how the robbers managed to successfully do so despite the fact that the hospital was supposed to be working both day and night because of emergency.
The police have so far arrested two suspects, Nurudeen Akinbode and Kamal Oguntunde in connection with the alleged theft.
They were charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates court for conspiracy and stealing.
The police alleged that the suspects invaded the hospital, destroyed the electrical cables in the buildings, carted them away and escaped.
However, the suspects denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty before the court.
Thus, the presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor did not object their bail as the matter was a bailable offence.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 16 May, 2018.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the police have not foreclosed investigation into what really happened that led to such level of vandalization.
