There was panic and confusion at a popular night club in Lagos after dare-devil armed robbers invaded the place, robbed customers of their possessions worth millions of Naira in both cash and valuables at gun point and escaped.
P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened at the club located at Ikoyi area of Lagos.
Some of the customers were said to have lost cash, expensive phones and jewelries worth huge undisclosed amount of money.
The police have intensified efforts to unravel the circumstances behind the attack despite the fact that there was tight security in place.
So far, one of the suspects, one Stephen Joseph, had been nabbed over the incident and was assisting the police in their bid to arrest other suspects now at large.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, and the suspect was paraded at the Command.
CP Edgal explained that on 15 July, 2018, under the Falomo bridge, a police patrol team on pin-down point received a distress call that a Toyota Camry car with registration number, BDG 306 FD with four suspects robbed the club at gun point, shot sporadically to scare people and were escaping with their loots.
The police boss said that the suspects were intercepted by the eagle eyed policemen at the Falomo Bridge but they hurriedly alighted from the vehicle with a black bag and took to their heels.
However, the team chased and arrested one of them, Stephen Joseph.
He said that when the car was searched, the police recovered one pistol and a black toy gun where it was concealed.
During interrogation, Joseph confessed that they were four that went for the robbery at the night club.
He said that a police patrol team chased them to Ikota Jakande area of Lekki and in the process, the gang’s operational red coloured unregistered Toyota Camry car entered a ditch and the front side got damaged due to over speeding.
As a result, the notorious gang went ahead and snatched another Toyota Camry car with the above mentioned registration number with the intention to sell it and use the proceeds to repair their damaged operational vehicle before they landed in trouble.
CP Edgal said that the police were still investigating the matter with a view to arresting the other gang members at large before the suspects will be charged to court.
