Robbers Set Hotel On Fire After Carting Away Properties

A popular hotel in Lagos has been set on fire after suspected robbers invaded the place and carted away properties in the hotel.

Three suspects, Abiodun Adedeji, Ademola Michael and Musa Bashiru have been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for their alleged involvement in the arson and stealing in the hotel.

The incident happened at Erico Hotel  located at Akowonjo area of Lagos.

According to the police, the suspects went to the hotel and locked the gate and stole some valuable items such as plasma television and drinks. After perfecting their act, they set the hotel on fire with petrol.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that other properties inside the hotel were destroyed before they escaped with the loot.

It took the intervention men of the fire service who raced to the scene to stop the fire from causing more damages.

The matter was reported to the police who arrested the suspects and charged them to court.

They were charged with arson, stealing and malicious damage under the Criminal Code. They denied their involvement and pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in the like sum.

They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail.

The matter was adjourned till 17 May 2017.
