“No doubt that a strategic job deserves a capable hand; a strategic thinker to man it very proficiently and effectively.”

Following a request, which was contained in a letter submitted to the Nigerian Senate by President Muhammadu Buhari  dated Friday, 9th July, 2021, requesting for the confirmation of Rt. Hon. Fred Amaechi  Nwoha , Speaker of the 6th Imo State House of Assembly, as the Commissioner representing South -East geopolitical zone in the National Assembly Service Commission,  a cheering news which was received by Imo people,  his friends and political associates with expressed commendations given the pedigree of the former legislator  in the political discuss of Imo State.

Barley 3 months of patiently waiting to be screened, the Senate on Wednesday, 13th October, 2021, finally confirmed Rt. Hon. Amaechi Nwoha as Commissioner representing South -East in the National Assembly Service Commission, having been subjected to  thorough scrutiny; DSS investigations,  Code of Conduct screening , Police Forensic background checks and finally the Senate screening and clearance.

Nwoha’s confirmation, we gathered, followed a diligent consideration of a report by the Committee on Establishment and Public Service, which was presented by the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sen. Smart Adeyemi , on behalf of the Committee Chairman , Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau  representing Kano Central Senatorial District.

Senator Smart Adeyemi, during the presentation of his report said, the nominee – Fred Amaechi Nwoha, satisfied the requirements of Section 4 of the National Assembly Act 2014 as amended.

According to a National Assembly source, Nwoha’s antecedents and rich political resume as an experienced former State Legislator and trained lawyer made him most suitable for the appointment as Commissioner in the National Assembly Service Commission -NASC, as no contrary opinion was raised or a petition received by the Senate Committee against his nomination.

Ironically, while a plethora of congratulatory messages and heartwarming felicitations had earlier  erupted in the social space both online and in the main stream media, as succinctly captured by us, with the storyline of his nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari , a lot of people erroneously thought that singular pronouncement of his nomination was an automatic ticket for confirmation without understanding the rigorous processes one must be subjected to, even with prayers for the job to have a leeway.

The good news remains that the screening was a huge success, as Rt. Hon. Amaechi Nwoha awaits his formal inauguration by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

Congratulations, is now in order!
