Veteran actor and filmmaker Saidi Balogun has firmly refuted circulating rumours that he has entered into an agreement with his ex-wife, celebrated actress Fathia Balogun, to avoid appearing together in films.

Balogun, whose illustrious career spans several decades and has been pivotal in shaping the Nigerian movie industry, emphasized that personal differences do not dictate professional collaborations.

In a detailed statement, Balogun underscored, “I have always based my decisions on the quality of the work rather than personal issues. My commitment to excellence in this industry is unwavering, and nothing will ever compel me to avoid opportunities simply because my ex-wife is involved.”

He reiterated that while their marital relationship has ended, both he and Fathia Balogun remain consummate professionals with a long-standing history of on-screen partnerships that have enriched Nollywood.

Balogun, known for his dynamic roles and contributions to groundbreaking Nigerian films over the years, recalled their successful past collaborations.

“We have appeared together in numerous productions throughout our careers. There has never been any formal agreement or need to segregate our work based on our personal history. Our focus has always been on delivering quality cinema, and that continues to be our driving force,” he explained.

The actor, whose career boasts an array of memorable roles and accolades, detailed that his professional journey has always been about pushing creative boundaries and upholding high standards in every project he undertakes.

“I have dedicated my life to this industry. My passion for acting and filmmaking compels me to pursue roles that challenge me and contribute to the growth of Nollywood. Avoiding roles or distancing myself from any colleague, including Fathia, simply because of past personal circumstances is not something I would ever consider,” he asserted.

Both Saidi Balogun and Fathia Balogun have built formidable reputations in the Nigerian movie industry through years of dedication and hard work.

Their individual exploits have not only set benchmarks for excellence but also demonstrated that professional integrity transcends personal relationships.

As seasoned professionals, they have repeatedly shown that their joint on-screen appearances are a testament to their mutual respect and commitment to the art of storytelling.

He, therefore, expressed readiness of both of them to work with any producer or on any project notwithstanding who is involved, insisting that as a professional, it is their duty to do so.

Balogun’s resolute stance makes it clear: rumours of a pact to avoid sharing the screen are unfounded.

His focus remains on delivering outstanding performances and contributing to the vibrant legacy of Nollywood—a legacy he has been instrumental in shaping through decades of passionate work.
