A 21-year-old saleswoman, Nike Ajiboye, who allegedly stole clothes and shoes from her employer’s boutique worth N207, 500, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, who resides at No. 15, Ajala Bello St., Ogba in Ikeja, Lagos, is being tried for stealing.
The accused, according to the Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe, committed the offence between February and April at Yaya Abatan area of Ogba.
Ajebe told the court that the accused, a saleswoman in the boutique, stole clothes and shoes valued at N207, 500, property of the complainant, Mrs Amaka Owosu.
“It was during stock-taking that the complainant discovered the missing items.”
The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The section stipulates a minimum of three years imprisonment on conviction.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Alexander Komolafe granted the accused a bail of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Komolafe adjourned the case until June 19 for mention.
