A 21-year old sales lady, Opeyemi Mustapha, has reportedly exhibited cruelty on her madam, Mrs. Oyelowo Bolatito, by setting her shop on fire in Lagos in order to cover up N286, 000 which she stole from the shop and ended up destroying all the goods.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Koloba junction, Alana Road in Ayobo area of Ipaja, Lagos, where the shop is located.
She has been arrested and charged for stealing and arson.
The Police alleged that the suspect, Opeyemi, was engaged as a sales attendant by her madam and she stole the said money from the items sold at the shop.
When her madam discovered that the money was missing, she came very early before the madam, set the shop on fire and all the goods were destroyed.
When the owner of the shop came in the morning and saw was happened, she went to the Police and reported. Then the Police commenced investigation, arrested Opeyemi and detained her for interrogation.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable and subsequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
She denied and pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to give a date to enable the Police to prove that she committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. J.A. Adegun, granted her bail and ordered her remanded in custody pending when she will perfect her bail conditions while the matter was adjourned due to Covid-19 regulations at the Court.
