The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Dr. Abiodun Tajudeen Afolabi as the new General Manager of Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory, LSMTL.
The appointment of Dr. Afolabi, who succeeds the former General Manager of the Agency, Engr. Olalekan Ajani, took immediate effect.
The appointee has to his credit a record of impeccable performance and impressive track record while serving in various positions in the Civil Service.
Prior to his new appointment, Dr. Afolabi served as Director, Farm Services, Ministry of Agriculture, Director, Enforcement & Advocacy Department and Director, Conservation and Ecology Department in the Ministry of the Environment, among others.
The appointee is a Fellow, Forestry Association of Nigeria; Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration FIA and Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration (FCIA), among others.
The new General Manager holds a PhD. in Environmental Resources Management obtained from the Lagos State University, Ojo in addition to a Master’s degree in Forest Resources Economics from University of Ibadan.
Dr. Afolabi, who obtained his first degree in Forest Management in 1985, is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new mandate of overseeing the activities of LSMTL.
Recall that the Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory is an agency of government established to curb the incidence of incessant collapse of some defective buildings and civil engineering infrastructures by testing the materials used for construction work for the purpose of quality assurance.
