The ongoing Sanwo- Olu Inauguration Football Championship which kicked off two weeks ago has reached the final stage at Elegbata Sports Centre, Apogbon, Lagos Island.
To reach the final stage, Olohun Oje FC defeated Dragon FC 1-0, while Peniel FC shocked Star City 1-0 to book a place in the final.
The two semi final held recently at Elegbeta Sports centre where mammoth crowd witnessed the pulsating semi final matches.
The Chairman Eko Youth Sports Association, Lateef Ojora told journalists that the tourney was put together to support the newly democratically elected governor in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo- Olu who assumed office on May 29, 2019.
He revealed that the competition was necessary to show that Eko Youth Sports Association has been solidly behind Sanwo- Olu who promised to give sports priority during his administration.
“The secret behind this competition is to show that we are in full support of the present government in the state and secondly, we want to organize this tourney to welcome the new administration led by Sanwo-Olu. I believe that his reign would change the face of sports in the state,” he said.
Ojora also congratulated the new Director General of Lagos Sports Commission, Gafar Toyin Bolowotan for his appointment and urged him to look into the grassroots sports in the state.
Organisers of the tournament informed P.M.EXPRESS that the final ceremony will hold very soon.
