The Police in Lagos have arrested a School gardener, Femi Aderonmu, over the murder of a 16-year old SS3 Student, Adagun Rafiu of Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School, Iponri, Lagos, barely few hours after sitting for WAEC examination.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana.
He stated that on 16th May, 2019, at about 2.40pm, Iponri Police Station received a complaint from Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School, Iponri, over the incident.
DSP Elkana explained that on 15th May, 2019, at about 4.40pm, Femi Aderonmu, a gardener with the said School, engaged one Adagun Rafiu, 16, an SSS 3 student, in a fight along Oke-Olu Road Iponri and in the process the student fell down and became unconscious.
He was immediately rushed to Smith Medical Hospital where he later died. The corpse was deposited at an undisclosed mortuary for autopsy report.
Elkana said that eye witness accounts showed that the deceased person was returning home with his friends after writing WAEC examination when the suspect reportedly blocked him on the way. He was said to have pulled him down on the accusation that the deceased Student had insulted him before then.
He said that the homicide detectives from State Criminal Investigation & Intelligence Department, Yaba, have taken over the case while the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy. The suspect has been arrested and will be charged to Court for murder.
