A 54-year-old company security guard, Hyginus Egwim has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly stealing his colleague’s phone at the company’s premises.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that this happened after the CCTV mounted in the premises exposed him and he confessed and brought out the phone.
The incident happened at Sunna Company located at Disciple street in Isolo where Egwim was employed as one of the security guards.
It was gathered that the owner of the phone, Celestine Chukwuebuka plugged the phone in one of the sockets to recharge its battery when he lost it.
When he complained to Egwim and other workers, they all joined hands to search for the phone to no avail.
Our correspondent gathered when the information got to the senior management, they decided to play back the CCTV mounted in the company and Egwim was seen when he was stealing the phone.
He was then invited, the video was played and Egwim saw himself, he confessed before he went to bring the phone where he hid it.
However, the management did not take it lightly, they handed Egwim to the police at Aswani division and he was charged to court.
He was charged before Isolo Magistrates with conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and stealing under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr U.A. Uagbale did not object his bail but requested for short adjournment for trial.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.O. Ogbe granted him bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.
Egwim was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
