A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday ordered the remand of 32-year-old security guard, Amos Ntuka over alleged theft of two iPads and jewelries worth N450,000.
The judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, who ordered the remand, adjourned the case till 6 March for hearing of bail application.
The prosecutor, Mr Donatus Abah, had requested for the adjournment pending conclusion of investigations.
Ntuka of Watchman Securities Ltd, is facing trial on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, house-breaking and theft.
He denied the charges preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Abah told the court that one Mrs Morayo Wilson of Apo Quarters reported the matter at Apo Police Station on 24 February.
Abah said that while the complainant was away, the defendant, a security guard at the estate, and one other, now at large broke into her apartment.
He said that the defendant “was duly identified by a neighbour who spotted them.’’
According to the prosecutor, “they cut the burglary proof of her kitchen window and gained entry into the main room.’’
He further alleged that they “stole two iPads and jewelries all valued at N450,000 .
“All efforts made to recover the stolen items proved abortive,’’ Abah said.
The offences contravened Sections 97, 355 and 289 of the Penal Code.
