Security Man Kills Colleague For Causing His Sack

The Police in Lagos have arrested a fleeing security man, one Monday Odey, who allegedly murdered his colleague, Abdullahi Yinusa, for reportedly being behind his sack over stealing.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Magodo Phase 2 in Lagos, where they were employed before the incident.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana. He said that on 5th April, 2019, the Command received a complaint from Bola Ikupoluyi, of House No. 16 Tunde Obitayo Street, Magodo Phase 2, Lagos, that on 4th April, 2019, at about 1900hrs, Monday Odey hit his colleague, Abdullahi Yinusa, with a shovel on the head and face which led to his death. The suspect, Monday Odey, absconded to an unknown destination immediately after committing the offence. DSP Bala explained that both the suspect and the deceased person were security guards working at the residence of the complainant.
Elkana said that from investigation, it was revealed that the suspect has been accused of stealing valuable items belonging to the complainant such as clothes, bicycles, among others. He said that on 4th April, 2019, the suspect was confronted over his incessant stealing habit by the deceased person and the suspect picked offence. He then threatened to kill the said Abdullahi Yinusa for challenging him. The complainant, being their employer, responded by sacking the suspect and ordered him to vacate the premises immediately.
Angered by his sack, the suspect, returned to the house the same day at about 1900hrs, under the guise of coming to take his personal belongings from the house. He gained access to the premises and murdered the said Abdullahi Yinusa. After killing his colleague, the suspect dumped the corpse at a canal behind their master’s house and absconded.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, tasked the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti Yaba, to ensure that no stone was left unturned in tracking the location of the fugitive suspect and bringing him to face the full wrath of the law.
Following a thorough and painstaking investigation by homicide detectives from the State CIID, the suspect was traced to Iwo, Osun State and apprehended on 2nd May, 2019.
DSP Elkana said that the suspect has confessed to the commission of the crime and will be charged to Court for murder.
