Security: ONC Passes Vote Of Confidence On Rivers CP & Officers Over Crime Reduction

The Orashi National Congress, ONC, a notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, has passed a vote of confidence on the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, and his officers for the significant reduction in crime across the state and the arrest of a large number of suspected criminals.

 

The endorsement was made at the end of a leadership meeting of the Congress held in Port Harcourt, where members unanimously affirmed the improvement in the security of lives and property in Rivers State.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the President General of ONC, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, said the group carefully reviewed the security situation in the state before arriving at its decision.

 

“During our meeting in Port Harcourt, we acknowledged the drastic reduction of the rate of criminal activities across Rivers State. We equally attributed the success to the policing strategies deployed by the Rivers State Commissioner of Police,” Amb. Ibe said.

 

“At the meeting, the leadership of the Congress unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Police boss, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju and his officers.”

 

Amb. Ibe stressed that sustainable development in any society is tied directly to safety and public order.

“Security of lives and property is very important in every clime because development and influx of foreign direct investment is at the fulcrum of economic growth,” he noted.

The ONC PG added that the relative peace currently being enjoyed in parts of Rivers State has created a more enabling environment for businesses, investors, and residents to thrive without fear.

The Congress commended the Rivers State Police Command for its intelligence-led operations, visibility policing, and collaboration with community leaders and other security agencies, which it said have helped to check kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, and other violent crimes.

 

ONC further pledged its support for the Police and urged residents to continue to provide credible information that will aid law enforcement efforts.

 

The group also called on the Federal Government and the Rivers State Government to provide more logistics and welfare support to police officers to sustain the gains recorded.

 

The vote of confidence comes amid renewed efforts by security agencies in the Niger Delta to secure critical infrastructure, protect communities, and create a stable environment for investment.
