Senate Committee Moves To Improve Technology Centres In Nnewi

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District and the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has extolled the ingenuity of Nnewi Industrialists.

She said this on Thursday during the oversight visit of the Senate committee on Science and Technology to science and technology institutes and centres at Nnewi.

The Ekwunife led committee on Science and Technology was at Nnewi to supervise the facilities of National Engineering Design Development Institute (NDDI) and the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Nnewi.

During the visit, Senator Ekwunife noted that Nnewi has remained the mainstay of industrialization not just in Anambra State but Nigeria in general. She extolled the ingenuity and business acumen of the good people of Nnewi.

Extolling Ibeto, Chikason, Innoson, Ogbuawa, Gabros, Coscharis and many other Nnewi industrialists for their astuteness and many ‘Nigerian first’ technological and industrial breakthroughs, the Lawmaker reiterated the commitment of the Senate committee under her leadership to support the entrepreneural strides of Nnewi people through the technology and innovation centres of the Ministry of Science and Technology located at the industrial city.

Ekwunife, who was in the company of some members of the Senate committee, Senator Obinna Ogba, Senator Istifanus Gyang and Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali and the Director General of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Engr. Dr. Mohammed Jibrin ended her tour of the science and technology facilities with a visit to the Chairman/CEO of Ngobros Nigeria Limited and the President of the Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Industry,
Mines and Agriculture (NCCIMA), Chief Humphrey Ngonadi. Issues around the need to utilize the technology institute and centers in Nnewi to support entrepreneurial and technological advancement in the industrial city and the rest of Nigeria formed the highlights of their discussion.
