Senator Adeola Bags Federal Poly’s Highest Award

The Chairman of Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Solomon Adeola, has been awarded the highest honorary Fellowship Award of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, at the 20th Convocation ceremony of the institution. 

The prestigious fellowship award based on contributions to the institutional and other development for the tertiary institutions had only been awarded to three prominent Nigerians namely former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland. 

While receiving the award at the investiture ceremony, Senator Adeola announced an endowment fund of N50 million for indigent students on the basis of criteria to be worked out with the school authorities as well as a N1 million gift to the best graduating student, Adebayo Azeez Opeyemi and a yearly N500,000 prize for the best graduating student. 

The chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance who stated that the award must have been informed by his sponsorship of a passed bill to transform the polytechnic into a federal university of technology as well as the construction of a library among other facilitations `for the infrastructure development of the institution promised to continue to assist the school and see to the work to get presidential assent to the passed bill on a federal university of technology. 

Senator Adeola equally pledged to facilitate road construction and power supply in the school and its host community, Ilaro where many of the students resides  stressing that in the nearest future the school as the only major Federal institution in the area as well as Ogun West will witness positive changes through his efforts and facilitations. 

Earlier of in his convocation speech, the Rector, Arc. Olusegun Aluko, has acknowledged the Senator’s deep love and understanding for the institution and its students in various material ways epitomized by his sponsorship of a bill for the institution as well as facilitating the construction of a library for the school. 

Dignitaries present at the occasion witnessed by thousands of supporters of Senator Adeola include Senator Isa Jubrin(APC, Kogi East), Senator Adelere Oriolowo(APC, Osun West), Senator Yakubu Oseni (APC, Kogi Central), Hon. Babatunde Adejare(APC, Agege Federal Constituency), Hon. Babatunde Hunpe(APC, Badagry Federal Constituency), Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, Oba Lokmon Kuoye, the Olu of Imasayi, Oba M.A Akindele ,the Olu of Owode-Yewa, Oba Buari Makinde, the Oniwoye of Iwoye  Oba Kehinde Adeisa, Ogiyan of Alari among others.
