As the the nation joins the rest of the global community to celebrate World Teachers’ Day,Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola has commended teachers in Ogun West Senatorial district and nationwide for their noble role in advancing knowledge at the critical levels of educational development.
In a statement issued to mark the day with the theme “ Valuing Teachers Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education “, Senator Adeola appreciated the vital role teachers play in shaping young minds stressing that he is committed to supporting any programme targeted at the welfare of teachers for the important role they play in societal development.
“I have have facilitated many educational development initiatives including education infrastructure like class room blocks and ICT centres. But I am also been engaged in developing the human aspects of education in the areas of facilitating scholarships and bursaries as well as training of teachers in usage of modern teaching technology” the senator stated.
World Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually on October 5 to commemorate the 1966 UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.
