The inauguration ceremony took place on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, and was officiated by the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, and attended by traditional rulers from all 20 local government areas.

The event follows the expiration of the tenure of the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, as chairman of the council.

The Ogun State Council of Obas serves as an important advisory body to the government on matters related to the state’s socio-economic development.

He expressed confidence that Oba Gbadebo’s leadership would strengthen collaboration between traditional institutions and government while promoting peace, unity and development across the state.

He prayed that Almighty God would grant the Alake greater wisdom, sound health, strength and long life in his new role.

“We heartily congratulate our revered royal father, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, on his inauguration as the new Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas. Kabiyesi remains a highly respected traditional ruler and custodian of our cherished culture, traditions and values.
