Senator Adeola Yayi Reiterates Pledges To Ogun Teachers, Clarifies Social Media Claims

The Ogun State APC Governorship Candidate and Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has reiterated his commitment to teachers in the state while clarifying what he described as misrepresentation of some of his pledges on social media.

 

Senator Adeola spoke following an interactive session with Ogun State teachers on issues relating to their welfare and government policies.

The Senator said his attention was drawn to reports circulating online suggesting he promised to reduce the internship period of the OGUNTEACH programme from two years to one year.

He clarified that no such commitment was made.

“While I committed myself to improving on the educational policies of government under Prince Dapo Abiodun as governor, there was no time I committed myself to reduction of the Internship period of OGUNTEACH from two years to one year as being circulated,” Senator Adeola stated.

He explained that what he said was that the programme of graduate teachers’ installment recruitment would be looked into in the interest of the state and to expand employment opportunities.

Senator Adeola also confirmed his pledge of N500,000 each to all 23 teachers’ award winners across all categories under the group of Distinguished Educators, in addition to what was already given by Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun.

On transportation, the Senator acknowledged the request by all 8 unions of Ogun Teachers at the event for buses to ease movement.

He pledged that the buses would be provided on a “one by one” basis when he is eventually elected “by God’s grace and peoples support,” and not “in one swoop” as being reported online.

The APC governorship candidate assured that he would faithfully implement the National Teachers’ Policy, NTP, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, with local considerations to ensure Ogun State continues to excel nationwide and internationally in the teaching profession.

Senator Adeola urged the public to disregard distorted versions of his interaction with teachers and to seek clarification from appropriate channels.
