Senator Ekwunife Condoles With Chairman/CEO Cubana Group, Obi Cubana

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife PhD, on Friday, July 16, 2021, joined the entire family of late Chief (Sir) Alex Nnaemeka Iyiegbu of Aboji village, Oba in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State to mourn their matriarch, late Ezinne Uche Iyiegbu.

Late Ezinne Iyiegbu, popularly known as Odozi aku Akaeze Oba, was until her death mother to Chief Obi Iyiegbu. Chief Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, is a renowned Nigerian businessman, entertainer, show promoter and the CEO of Cubana Group.

The funeral service, which was held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Oba and was officiated by the Archdeacon, Revd. Dr. Dave Udoezika, was graced by dignitaries from different strata of society notably Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Burundi, Elijah Onyeagba PhD, Anglican Bishop of Gwagwalada Diocese, Rt. Revd. Moses Tabweye, Regent of Oba community, Prince Noel Ezenwa amongst others.

Delivering the sermon, Rt. Rev Professor Evans J. Ibeagha, the retired Bishop of Nike Diocese, Enugu State, who tagged his theme: “Watch the company you keep” urged Christians to be careful with the life they live. He said that there are two kingdoms: living and the dead, noting that a gate which represents our deeds separate the kingdoms.

The cleric further noted that the deceased lived a good life during her time on earth and that friends and well-wishers are bearing witnesses to it.

Speaking during the service, Senator Ekwunife described the late Ezinne Iyiegbu as a great woman cum philanthropist, who strived to put smiles on all who came across to her. She urged the children to sustain the legacies of their late mother.

The Senator, who also represented the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, PhD, CON, conveyed the tributes of the leadership of the Senate to the bereaved family.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology however, on behalf of her family and the good people of Anambra Central Senatorial District extended condolences to Chief Iyiegbu and the entire family.

Late Ezinne Iyiegbu died at the age of 78.

On the Senator’s entourage were former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lady Henrietta Agbata, former Chairman ASUBEB, Dr. Rose Nwankwo, former Accountant General of Anambra state, Mrs. Helen Nwaeri, Popular Star Actress, Rita Edochie amongst others.
