Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) has commenced remedial work on some strategic roads in Anambra Central Senatorial District, this is in line with her commitment to effectively represent the good people of the Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly.

The Senator has commenced work on dilapidated sections of Amawbia-Nise-Ekwulobia Road which cuts across Anambra Central Senatorial District leading to Anambra South Senatorial District.

During the inspection of the Amawbia-Nise-Ekwulobia road project by the project team from the office of the Senator, the Director of Project Anambra Central Senatorial District Liaison Office, Lady Henrietta Agbata, noted that the Senator attracted the project to alleviate the plight of commuters plying the route. She stated that there are lots of bad sections on the road which the Contractor has been mobilized to work on in order to ensure free flow of vehicles, goods and services. According to Lady Agbata, the project team visited to ensure that the Contractor is rehabilitating the road according to specifications.

Speaking on the road project, a representative of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engr Ifeanyi Ishiwu confirmed that the Contractor commenced work yesterday and is already mobilized to ensure that the project is completed to standard. He equally highlighted the stages of work to be done, which include, cutting of the failed sections, sand filling, stone base, asphalting and others.

Some commuters plying the route lauded Senator Ekwunife for the wonderful work she is doing on the road. Some of the Keke, Okada and Car drivers who granted interviews to our media team noted that they experience difficulties plying through bad sections of the road. They stated that with the Senator’s intervention they have no doubt that the road will be brought back to shape owing to her antecedents as a “talk and do” Senator.

Speaking to our Media team, Mr Nwufo from Nise while describing the Senator as a performer, noted that he has always known the Senator from her days in the bank and is not surprised by her meteoric rise in politics owing to her age-long commitment towards addressing the needs of others. “I call her Madam quality project”, He concluded.

Recall that Senator Ekwunife had some months ago commenced construction of roads in some communities in the Senatorial District, with many others to be flagged off soon. She reassured her constituents of her resolve to ensure effective distribution of projects across the communities under her jurisdiction.

It is important to note that the Amawbia-Nise-Ekwulobia road is one of the major entry points to Anambra South Senatorial District from Awka, the State capital.
