The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District and a frontline Aspirant for the 2021 Anambra Governorship election, Senator Uche Ekwunife, recently paid a courtesy call on Ichie George Ukoeze, Idu Nise.

Senator Ekwunife who was in company of the Senator representing Ebonyi Central, Senator Obinna Ogba, Senator Istifanus Gyang (Plateau North), Saidu Ahmed Alkali (Gombe North) and the Director General, National Board for Technology Incubation NBTI, Engr Dr Mohammed Jibrin were in Anambra State for oversight on some science and technology centers and institutes in the State, and used the opportunity to visit Ichie George Ukoeze to appreciate him for his support during the last election.

During the visit, Senator Ekwunife informed Idu Nise of her intention to run for the upcoming Anambra Governorship election, a position she noted will avail her and the Peoples Democratic Party the platform to effect impactful developmental change in the state using the instrumentalities of the executive office.

While observing that there is a need for Anambra to produce a Governor who understands the peculiarities of the State and the arching needs of the people, the Senator assured her host that if elected Governor, her government will focus on grassroots development using the community development approach.

The Senator equally highlighted her desire to ensure the conduct of local government elections within few months as Governor.

According to her, an administratively active and financially independent Local Government system will be better positioned to impact positively on the development of the state. “This will ensure that the dividends of democracy are brought closer to communities and by extention to the people.”

In his reaction, Ichie George Ukoeze introduced one of the prominent community leaders, Ichie Paul Ezenwaka (Agbalanze) to Senator Ekwunife and her entourage. He extolled the leadership qualities of the Senator and prayed for God’s wisdom and protection upon her especially as she seeks to serve as the next Governor of the State.

Senator Ekwunife and her colleagues in their final words of appreciation promised to attract some infrastructural developments to Nise town. They wished the community leaders well.
