The distinguished senator representing Katsina North in the Red Chambers, Senator Mustapha Bukar is dead.
According to family sources, Senator Bukar who represents Daura Zone in the Senate, died on Wednesday morning after a brief illness.
Senator Mustapha Bukar’s death came barely a week after the death of another legislator representing Lokoja/Kogi/Koton Karfe, Hon Umar Buba Jibril, in the Green Chambers. The Red Chambers had earlier on March 17, 2018, lost the senator representing Bauchi South, Senator Ali Wakili who died at the age 58 after attending the wedding ceremony of Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s daughter in Kano.
Senator Bukar – a civil engineer by training was born in Daura on December 31, 1954. He was a member of Institute of Civil Engineers, Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria, Nigerian Society of Engineers, American Waterwork Association. The senator was also the President, Nigerian Water Supply Association, Chairman African Water resources and Member Nigeria Institute of Management. He was at one time a Director of Special Duties on Agriculture, Water Resources and Rural Development in the Ministry of Agriculture.
Senator Bukar just recently sponsored the training of 400 unemployed youths in his Senatorial District on yoghurt making and poultry production for self-reliance and economic sustainability.
