The Chairman of Senate Committee of Finance and lawmaker representing Lagos West, Senator Solomon Adeola, has congratulated and commended all Federal legislators from Ogun West Senatorial District for the passage of the Constitutional Bill for the amendment of the 1999 Federal Constitution to reflect Yewa for two LGAs instead of the misnomer of Egbado North and South LGAs.
Reacting to the passage of the bill passed by both Chambers of the National Assembly among other Constitutional Amendment Bills, the Aremo Oba of Yewaland said he has been part of the struggle to pass this bill from his days in the 7th and 8th National Assembly adding that it is anomalous that over the years, the yearning of his people to live by a proper nomenclature has been frustrated.
“I am happy to be part of the 9th National Assembly that has now acceded to the wishes of my people which at the state level has been legalised over two decades” the Senator stated.
Senator Adeola further called on all State Houses of Assembly to passed the Constitutional Amendment Bills as passed by the National Assembly so that the president can subsequently assent to ensure fruition of the legislative exertions over the years.
