Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, is expected to appear before a Lagos Magistrate Court on August 3, 2026, to testify as a prosecution witness. The case involves popular internet personality Ademola Abiodun, widely known as DJ Chicken.

DJ Chicken was arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate Court over allegations of cyber-offences and issuing threats to the President’s son. The matter has attracted wide public attention because of the personalities involved.

According to court records, the entertainer was remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on July 10, 2026. The remand order followed his arraignment on allegations bordering on threat to life and breach of public peace.

Magistrate M.F. Onamusi presided over the arraignment. The defendant faces a three-count charge of threat to life, conduct likely to cause breach of public peace, and offences under the Cybercrime Prohibition and Prevention Act, 2015.

The prosecution told the court that the charges stemmed from a video posted on social media. Authorities said the content was interpreted as a direct threat and capable of disturbing public order.

During proceedings, the prosecutor, SP Adegoke Ademigbuji, tendered the viral video as primary evidence.

However, the defendant, DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all the counts read to him by the court registrar.

The court granted bail in the sum of ₦1 million. However, the bail conditions were described as stringent. The court demanded two sureties: one must be a blood relative and the other a verified government employee.

Additional conditions include proof of landed property in Lagos State, three years of tax clearance, and National Identification Number, NIN, verification for both the defendant and the sureties.

Following the inability to meet the bail conditions immediately, the court ordered DJ Chicken’s remand at Kirikiri pending full compliance. The case was adjourned to August 3, 2026 for hearing, with Seyi Tinubu listed as a key witness.

Legal experts say the arraignment highlights the growing enforcement of cybercrime laws in Nigeria. They noted that the Cybercrime Act, 2015 empowers courts to sanction online conduct deemed threatening or capable of causing public panic.

The experts explained that bail conditions must balance the right to liberty with the need to ensure the defendant appears for trial. “The presumption of innocence still applies until the defendant is proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction,” they stated.

The case underscores increasing scrutiny of social media content by law enforcement. Authorities have warned public figures and influencers to be mindful of posts that could be interpreted as threats or capable of inciting public disturbance.
