A 24-year old man, Uchenna Uzoma, who was allegedly caught sleeping with his neighbour’s 11-year old girl in Lagos, has confessed that he was tempted by the girl and was forced to engaged her in sex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Alhaji Bashiru Street, Ojodu area of Lagos, where the man, Uzoma, resides with the girl’s parents.
Though he did not state how the girl tempted him but his action has landed him in serious trouble as he was arrested and charged before Court for defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.
At the Ogba Magistrates Court where he was arraigned, the Police alleged that the man lured the victim into his apartment and defiled her before he was caught in the act.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Command in Ikeja Lagos for further investigation.
During interrogation, he admitted and claimed that he was tempted by the girl, he fell and eventually defiled her.
The Court did not take his plea after the Prosecutor, Mr. John Christopher, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice. Hence the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E Nwaka, ordered his remand in correctional centre without an option of bail.
The Court then directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice and the matter was adjourned till 21st July, 2020.
