A Site Engineer, Badmos Olatunji Monsor, has been shot dead and 15 other workers injured as suspected armed land grabbers invaded a Lagos State Government – allocated plots of land in the Agidingbi area of Ikeja, Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that three other construction workers were also declared missing after the dust raised by the armed men settled and their whereabouts unknown.
Meanwhile, four workers of the deceased site engineer have been arrested and detained by the Police for interrogation over the alleged murder and attacks.
The Lagos State Government allocated the scene of the attack and murder to WGC, represented by Alhaji Akeem Osuolale in two separate letters from the Lagos State Government with the numbers LASG/LB S0000228005 dated 18th December 2024 and LASG/LB S0000222499 dated October 13 2023.
It was gathered that trouble started over the weekend when Policemen, who were accompanied by Alhaji Garba, Demola PA and armed thugs invaded the site and started shooting sporadically.
The invasion led to serious pandemonium as the workers on site ran in different directions while some of them were attacked with cutlasses, iron rod, charms and other dangerous weapons.
The invaders shot repeatedly in different directions, causing great fear and panic among residents of the Lagos community.
Residents of the nearby estate quickly reported to the Police at Alausa. But before they arrived, the invaders had escaped after noticing the motionless body of one of the workers.
Four of the workers of the deceased site engineer were arrested by the Police and a gun, reportedly abandoned by the invaders was recovered at the scene.
The company, in a  petition to the Inspector General of Police and the Lagos State Government, claimed that it is” the rightful owner being the Lagos State Government’s Allottee of the pieces of Land measuring 7,500sqm and 10,650sqm situate along Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.
A senior Police source at Area F, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the death of the deceased site engineer and also added that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has interrogated the arrested construction workers and others and that investigation is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has also directed the Police to ensure proper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder.
