The Smart Bede And His Too Many Laundry Agents ➖ Seeking Hope In Distant Places

MAZI EJIMOFOR OPARA

One thing you can not take away from a guy man with cognate experience on the street is his “smartness”. That brisk sense of how to promptly evade the law, subvert processes and manipulate the emotions of victims are skill-sets anybody whose antecedents forces into a “golden silence” must have to survive life on the fast lane. Organized crime, like the organized formal sector, is regimented and procedural too. It takes one with an eye for details to differentiate between a professional criminal and a legitimate professional in the same line of trade. This is why a con Lawyer can practice for many years before the long arm of the law catches up with him. The same applies to all other professions that are hopelessly counterfeited by professional criminals.

Until the eventual sentencing and incarceration of Rev. Kings of the Christian Praying Assembly, he still had persons who believed in him and celebrated him as God’s anointed. So, we have seen so much of this unfortunate men in this country that we are no longer swayed by such high fallutin religious prefixes such as “Evangelist, Pastor, Apostle” and other titles susceptible to easy counterfeiting.

One way Hon Bede has successfully warmed his way treachrously into the hearts of some undiscerning constituents, especially from Ngor Okpala, is through the establishment of pseudo NGOs, and Community Based Organizations (CBOs). I have painstakingly studied and identified three of such despicable assemblage of persons with no clear cut altruistic agenda but to serve as pressure groups of Oga Bede and his party, the PDP. In no particular order, there is the “Olu Owerri” group, championed by Ikemba Martin Opara, one of Bede’s man Fridays. This group is closely followed by “Ogbako Ngor Okpala Youths” led by Engr. Henry Uzoma, another known apologist of the PDP and a Bede Eke die-hard. Lastly, this particular group is the most organized and lethal of the PDP-Bede Eke political structure. They are known as the Ngor Okpala Development and Peace Initiative (NODePI).

The spurious Ogbako Ngor Okpala Youth association had in December last year organized a public outing wherein they passed a vote of confidence on Hon Bede Eke – a man who represents all that an Ngor Okpala youth must not be – and took a swipe on other persons they were set up to decimate. Today, we have been greeted by another update showing the  award from the Ikemba Martin Opara coordinated Olu Owerri group to the same man, who apparently is their sole benefactor.  The next in line would be NODePI, and when that happens I would conclude my investigations and publish the findings for all to see.

Ngor Okpala is not a Society bereft of men deserving of honour. The laughable ploy by Bede to set up phony organizations across the Constituency, who in return confer bogus, undeserving awards on him is reminiscent of the horrendous days of the junta, where civil society organizations were mere appendages of the military dictators who manipulate them according to their evil predilections. While we keep pushing for the entrenchment of positive values in our system, we must be critical of these “Pay as you go” organizations set up by retired Fraudsters to launder their flaccid images. For Olu Owerri and their new shameful award, it is still a hope in distant places for Ngor Okpala /Aboh Mbaise Federal Constituency.
