Lagos Lawmaker and Nollywood star, Desmond Elliot, has again incurred the wrath of many Nigerians on social media after reports that he was fully in support of a proposed bill to regulate social media posts surfaced online.
The bill is thought to be aimed at undermining the #EndSARS Lekki incident and meant to aid the arrest of anyone who tweets about it.
But the Lagos State House of Assembly member, Hon Elliott, who has been at the center of the controversy has refuted the claim, saying it was not within the jurisdiction of any State House of Assembly, but exclusively at the Federal level.
ln an emotional video, he said his message was only directed at social media influencers and celebrities, who he asked to cut down on the hate narrative since everyone was going through a lot already.
Hon Elliott called out the originator of the report, Dr. Olufunmilayo, and begged that information be verified before posting
