I Sold Your Car Because I’m Broke -Suspect Told Neighbour

A 59-year old man, Adebare Samuel arrested for stealing and selling his neighbour’s Nissan Maxima Saloon Car has explained that he sold the car because he was broke and needed money to take care of his pressing needs.
The owner of the vehicle, Don Macaulay received the shocking news after he returned from work only to be informed by Samuel that he had sold his vehicle and spent the money.
The incident happened at 3 Don Macaulay Street, Iba Town in the outskirts of Lagos where both the suspect and the complainant reside.
The suspect insisted that the matter was not a criminal act as claimed by the police since he informed the owner, Don Macaulay, who is his neighbour, after the  transaction.
Samuel was arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly stealing the vehicle with registration number DS 119 LND and sold it for N450,000.
When the owner returned and he informed him that he had sold the vehicle and have also spent the money.
Efforts to resolved the matter within the community, P.M.EXPRESS gathered failed as Samuel claimed he had used the whole money to solve pressing problem facing him.
The matter was reported to the police who arrested Samuel and charged him to the court.
Samuel pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola granted Samuel bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 30 January 2017.
