Soludo: 100 Days In Office Is 3 Months Plus 10 Days…

While it is not the gestation for solid leadership, it is a measure of the level of seriousness that defines the early steps of a government and their administrative and/or policy direction. Of course this line of thought would not make sense to anyone whose definition of good governance is solely about brick and mortar.  Not minding that even the brick and mortar evidence would require a period of planning, mobilization and execution. 

That said, in 100 days Governor Soludo has established the character of his leadership, and I would like to run a quick tweet of some major highpoints that present Soludo as a Leader who came prepared.

1. We encountered the novelty of having Commissioner Nominees’ list presented to the house and ndị Anambra together with the portfolios. Like Soludo, majority of his Commissioners have hit the ground running from the day of their inauguration.

2. The Okpoko visit was a signpost to Soludo’s urban regeneration effort, though not fully executed, the impact of that visit sits somewhere in the psyche of the people which is the first point of social transformation.

3. My friend, Obi Trice Emeka,  is impressed with the restoration of a duly elected PG for his Awgbu Town hitherto embroiled in avoidable fisticuffs. Just like Awgbu, a number of other Town Unions in leadership tussles, are undergoing conciliatory processes, with every stakeholder brought to the discussion table.

4. Soludo’s administration has in 100 days made a manifest distinction between secessionist agitation and a growing lucrative criminal enterprise that has held some parts of the State hostage. Through active stakeholders/people engagement, ndị Anambra now understand the difference between criminals in the bush threatening our livelihoods and collective existence and persons agitating against marginalisation. 

5. The agro-regenerative policy of the Soludo administration has in 100 days taken-off, with the reenactment of the palm revolution and introduction of the coconut economy pointing us to the direction of a new Agro-economy targeted at lifting many Anambra households out of poverty within the next 2 to 3 years.

6. Soludo has within his first 100 days in office directed the employment of more Doctors and health professionals into the State’s teaching hospital. Including giving expedited approvals to key demands of the Primary Healthcare Development Agency. In partnership with the Malaria Consortium, the Soludo administration has distributed 3.8 million Insecticide Treated Nets across the State, plus the groundbreaking ceremony for the building of the Coordinated Wholesale Centre, a drug distribution market that will end the menace of open unregulated drug market in the State. A project financed by Sterling Bank Plc with a 24month timeline. This administration has also assigned a State office for the World Health Organisation (WHO), with a prospects of benefitting from important health interventions to the benefit of the people…

7. As part of his effort to ensure quality and entrench merit in the recruitment process into our public schools, Governor Soludo in his first 100days in office commissioned the recruitment of 5000 teachers for Primary and secondary schools in the State. The introduction of Computer Based Test improved the credibility of the process.

8. For the first time in recent history, Governor Soludo attended the May 27 children’s day celebrations, personally taking delivery of the Anambra Children’s Parliament charter of demands, with a promise to grant expeditious attention to it.

9. Security of lives and properties has taking the front burner in Soludo’s first 100 days in office, as he has deployed all necessary support to Security agencies in their fight against criminality. Ndị Anambra have seen the arrest of kidnappers and the destruction of their dens across the State.

10. The Soludo Administration has revitalised the Procurement process through the full reactivation of the Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP).

11. The Soludo administration has established two new Ministries — Ministries of Homeland Affairs and Petroleum Resources. While abrogating the unconstitutional office of the first lady.

12. The Soludo Administration has, in 100 days, rejigged the Anambra State Inland Revenue Service (AiRS) into a modern technology driven agency. The AiRS is currently deploying technology for the collection of revenues, plugging leakages and ending the menace of touting in revenue collection.
