Soludo: Anambra Next Governor In-Waiting

As the jostle and scramble for the office of the governor of Anambra state continues to gather more momentum judging from the frenzied political atmosphere preparatory to the Gubernatorial election, it is of paramount importance to pause and ponder about the Anambra Project for the next 4 years. As political parties parade many a dramatis personae as possible candidates for the office of the governor premeditated by vested parochial interest or better still general interest, it would certainly be a wise decision that our dear state does not return to the land of Egypt again.Therefore it behoves on the citizenry to be cautious and careful about who should be entrusted with Anambra Project on November 6 this year. In spite of the animosity, malevolence and malignant forces against Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the truth of the matter remains that Anambra Project can not be left in the hands of a mediocre.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may have given glimmer of hope to many a person but  Anambra Project is sacrosanct and the people know who the cap really fits to handle such a delicate project. As the people go to the polls to recruit another governor, they must take cognisance of the pedigree, antecedents, integrity, probity and overall credentials of the would be governor because Anambra state is getting better and the All Progressives Grand Alliance has set the template for good governance. Again, who takes over from Governor Willie Obiano is of paramount concern in order to maintain and sustain the tempo of development in the state. Anambra Project with Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is a sure way of consolidating on the gains of the present state government and for a greater Anambra of prosperity and prospects.

In the last 16 years, Anambra state has indeed remained the Light of the Nation because it took the timely intervention of the All Progressives Grand Alliance to restore the pride and lost glory of the state through the institution of a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Today, democratic dividends have trickled down every nook and cranny of Anambra communities and the people are happy because a government with human face is in power. The Anambra Project under Governor Willie Obiano can not be over-stressed because the incumbent governor has indeed taken governance and administration to the hinterlands where the rural populace now take ownership of projects peculiar to their respective domains, powered by the governor’s Community Choose Your Project Scheme. Roads and bridges now criss-cross the length and breath of Anambra state and to crown it all, the state currently has an International Cargo and Passenger Airport built by the present administration and designed to cause an overwhelming economic transformation in the state.

 But the big question is how would the state maintain the lofty height it has attained so far?  This is the Crux of the matter.As the November 6 governorship election gradually approaches amidst permutations and intrigues, the need for the All Progressives Grand Alliance to remain in power should be uppermost in the minds of electorate to avoid a resurgence of predators and marauders in the governance of Anambra state. The choice of Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo as the next governor would to a very large extent help in the actualisation of the intent and purpose of the Anambra Project. Sentiments and emotions notwithstanding, Soludo as a master planner, development expert and reformer, will make a more result-oriented governor and change agent if given the mandate to take full charge of the Anambra Project for the benefit of all and sundry. Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo is Anambra next governor in-waiting!
