Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, has flagged-off the 3.2 kilometers Okpunoeze-Nnewi Hotel Road.
Also flagged-off was the 2.2 kilometer Isaho Umuezeogu-NAUTH (Teaching Hospital Permanent Site) Road.
Benejaf International Limited is the Contractor in charge of the road projects, while Maintech Engineering Consult is the consultant.
Performing the flag-offs, Governor Soludo promised to intervene in Nnewi major markets to transform them into modern markets fit for the twenty-first century.
The Governor described Nnewi as the commercial capital of Anambra South and thus requires a lot of work, acknowledging the difficulties which people face on a daily basis as a result of the poor condition of the road.
“Ndị Anambra employed me to work and that is exactly what I am doing. We pay contractors 30-50% as mobilization. As agreed, the road will be completed on December 5, 2023,” Governor Soludo stressed.
The Governor revealed that the late Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu was APGA’s first National leader, recalled that APGA Government is responsible for the road projects in Nnewi and wondered why some people are planning to demolish the house they had built over the years.
It was on this premise that he urged the people to deliver APGA candidates in the upcoming House of Assembly elections, assuring of doing more interventions for the people.
The Commissioner for Industry, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi, recalled that Governor Soludo has demonstrated love for the people of the Community, adding that the road flag-off represents only less than five percent of what the Governor intends to do for the people.
On his part, Hon. Comr. Peter Nwosu, APGA Candidate for Nnewi North Constituency, Anambra State House of Assembly, assured the Governor of the support of ndi Nnewi.
He informed the Governor that the road being constructed has been causing problems in four communities and noted that he intends to empower 1000 youths in Nnewi, saying that 200 youths are prepared to travel to China for training as part of the first batch of his empowerment programme.
The Commissioner for Works, Engr Ifeanyi Okomma, Chief of Protocol to the Governor, Mr. Chinedu Nwoye, Transition Committee Chairman for Nnewi North, Engr Chris Obiorah, Traditional Ruler of Nnewi, Igwe Kenneth Orizu, APGA Party and Ward Executives, Nnewi Market Leaders among others, attended the flag-off ceremony.
