MAZI EJIMOFOR OPARA
The last few days have seen a groud-swell of protests by ndi Anambra in a manner not seen before. From traders and residents in Onitsha, to Keke drivers in Awka and Farmers in Amansea, Ebenebe and Awba ofemmili.
These critical stakeholders have been reacting to what they tagged a devious attempt at distracting Gov. Soludo by desperate politicians. This is coming after a viral distorted video by a yet to be identified paid agent exaggerated a portion of a uncompacted asphalt on an ongoing road construction site at Minax area of Ochanja.
The said video gave rise to a false narrative in the media stating alleging that the said road, which is still under construction, had been commissioned by Gov. Soludo, and that the road failed few days after the purported commissioning. This false narrative was targeted at discrediting the quality road infrastructure put in place by Governor Soludo in 24months which is a feat never before seen within same period by any other government in the State.
The protesting citizens forcefully warned these desperate politicians and fake news merchants to desist forthwith or risk the wrath of the people. This implicit vote of confidence underscores the far reaching impact Soludo’s 24months in office has made on the lives of ndi Anambra. The protesters, especially the Keke riders have challenged these desperate Politicians to show them any road built and commissioned by Gov. Soludo that has failed.
This is the people’s government and they have risen to take ownership.
