Kwara State University, KWASU, came alive with music, excitement and youthful energy on October 31, 2026, as Soundcity OnTour brought its campus experience to the university.
The event transformed the campus into a vibrant hub of live performances, musical discovery and youthful expression, giving students a rare opportunity to connect through music while celebrating the wealth of talent within the university community.
From the first performance to the last, the atmosphere reflected the creativity and confidence of campus life in Nigeria. Students gathered in large numbers to cheer their colleagues, discover new sounds and enjoy a day built around entertainment, talent and community.
One of the standout moments of the day was the Bigi Music Competition, a platform created to spotlight emerging campus artistes.
The competition gave aspiring musicians the chance to showcase their musical abilities, connect with a wider audience and compete for top honours in front of a live crowd.
After an impressive round of performances, Adegbenro Abdulateef, popularly known as Yomide, clinched the first position. Ige Samuel Oluwadamilare, known as Voice Boy, emerged as the first runner-up, while Amuda Abdulazeem, performing as Hazzi The Hollow, secured the second runner-up position.
Beyond the prizes and rankings, the competition offered the young performers something equally valuable. It gave them the opportunity to experience the excitement of a live audience, build stage confidence and take their musical ambitions beyond the familiar environment of the university.
Their performances underscored the creative potential thriving within Nigeria’s campuses and the importance of creating platforms where emerging voices can be seen, heard and celebrated.
The excitement continued with captivating performances from established acts including Kinglex, Kodee, Slimcase, Marrz and Muyeez. Their appearances brought an additional layer of star power to the experience and kept the audience engaged from start to finish.
The blend of established musical acts and rising campus talent created a unique energy, one that allowed students to enjoy their favourite artistes while also discovering the next generation of Nigerian music stars.
Powered by Bigi and Fearless Energy Drink, Soundcity OnTour continues to take music, entertainment and talent discovery to university communities across Nigeria. The tour is designed to create memorable experiences that celebrate young people’s passions, creativity and individuality.
For Bigi, the music competition represents an opportunity to connect with young Nigerians through their shared love of music while providing a platform for promising talents to showcase their abilities. By bringing the competition directly to university campuses, the brand continues to reinforce its connection with a generation that values creativity, self-expression and opportunities to stand out.
Fearless Energy Drink, with its bold and energetic brand identity, complements the experience by connecting with the confidence, ambition and expressive spirit of young Nigerians. Together, the brands bring more than entertainment to the campus. They create an environment where students can celebrate their individuality, discover new interests and express themselves without reservation.
The KWASU edition further demonstrated the value of campus experiences in bringing young people together while providing emerging creatives with opportunities for visibility and recognition.
For Yomide, Voice Boy and Hazzi The Hollow, the competition marked an important opportunity to take their musical journeys to a wider audience, with the encouragement and excitement that come from performing on a bigger stage.
As Soundcity OnTour continues its journey across Nigerian universities, it remains committed to creating engaging campus experiences where music meets opportunity, emerging talent finds an audience and young people have every reason to celebrate their creativity.
