The leadership and members of Southern Youth Foundation, SYF, have called on the Federal and State governments to embrace and streamline Nigerian youths in the scheme of things across the country to enable them feel and have a right sense of belonging in the state.

The group said that this will go a long way to forestall and address the objective of the heated nationwide youth peaceful protests tagged #EndSARS as well as #EndBadGovernment, which was later hijacked by hoodlums and degenerated into violence, killing and destruction of lives and properties of both government and individuals.

According to a statement signed by Comrade Emeni Ibe, National President, Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria, the group said, “The Nigerian government ought to be sensitive. Government should be what it is basically known for as fought for and defined by the founding fathers of Democracy and independence as government of the people, by the people and for the people and not the other way round or as business as usual currently”.

“For Nigerians and the Nigerian youths in particular, it is their right to be fixed up politically, economically and otherwise as necessary and deemed fit for the all-round growth and development of the country because it is their legal rights as citizens of the country and they are the rightful leaders of tomorrow.”

“On a painful note, SYF seizes this medium to commiserate with the families of the victims of the heated violence and killings in the hijacked peaceful nationwide protests and pray God to see the bereaved families through the irreparable loss.”

“By the nationwide peaceful protests, the youths expressed bitterly that gone are the days when the youths are promised the future while the future is today and now and they are left with only peanuts and or nothing at all.”

“An adage says, ‘build or kill the youths and you build or kill the nation respectively’.

“In all, we heartily appeal to Nigerian youths who are so pained and affected by the bad governance, misrule,  corruption, unemployment and low standards of living as well as Police brutality witnessed across the Nigerian state as orchestrated by Nigerian elected officials and leaders to always embrace peace as they demand and fight for their rights because two wrongs cannot make a right.”

“We strongly advise the government to live up to expectations, stand by the citizenry as well as the younger generations in particular and see to their demands in all ramifications to avoid a radical repeat of the protests which collapsed many government and individual businesses, activities and disrupted order in the society.”

“SYF charges all and sundry to contribute their quota to ensure the change we so desire in the country because the change begins with all citizens of Nigeria both in the country and Diaspora.

Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Long Live Nigerians!!

Long Live Nigerian Youths!!!

Long Live SYF!!!! Southern Youth Foundation, SYF concluded.
