A 20-year-old convict, Ola Oluwa has confessed that he actually started stealing when he was in the secondary school.
Ogun State-born Oluwa said he attended Matori Secondary School in Okota, Lagos where he started stealing from his classmates before he graduated in 2013 and moved to the streets.
Oluwa, who resides at Ilewe in Ikotun area said that after he passed out from the secondary school and there was no money to further his eduction, he went to learn about aluminum works fabrication, unfortunately for him, there was no money to establish his own.
He said he then remembered he could survive by engaging in stealing.
He decided to seek refuge in an uncompleted building at Bucknor Estate in Ejigbo area where he began his exploits in stealing aluminum roofs, but he was eventually caught by a worker in the estate.
He was handed over to the police at Idimu Division.
During interrogation, Oluwa told the police that he has actually learnt to do aluminum work and was looking for money to settle his boss for his freedom.
He said it was while he was thinking on what to do since his parents had no money, he decided to try his luck by going to the site to steal aluminum roofs.
Oluwa was charged to court at the Ejigbo Magistrate’s court with alleged stealing. He pleaded guilty and asked for leniency with a promise that he will be a changed man.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Adeyemi found him guilty as charged.
The court then sentence him to community service within the court premises.
