The South South Groups in support of the Presidential ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello have asked Prof Itse Sagay to stop distracting the attention of the Kogi Governor’s bid towards actualising it.
In a statement signed by Prince Charles Nwala, South South Zonal Coordinator, GYB2PYB Movement, the groups said, “We the Members of South South for GYB2PYB Movement distance ourselves with the question of Prof. Sagay, asking on what basis will Governor Yahaya Bello anchor his Presidential Ambition in 2023, if at all he is serious”.

“Ordinarily, we could have ignored the statement because it is not in any way the true reflection of the views of we in the South South Region.”

“However, to put the records straight as an unbiased and non tribal/ethnic pressure group in the South South Region, we could have preferred it if Prof. Sagay will give us a cogent reason why he is a lone voice when majority of our people are calling Governor Yahaya Bello to run for President in 2023.”

“Kogi State which is a transit State to over 9 States (North, South West, South East & South South) could have been a den of criminal activities, but that is not the case as the present Government under the able watch of Governor Yahaya Bello dislodged all the criminal elements in the State immediately he assumed office. Remember, one of the major responsibilities of any Government is the security of lives & property and the Governor has done extremely well in that regard.”

“Talking about not being a Southerner which might not qualify him to run for President in 2023, I don’t know if it is boldly written in our Constitution that a Northerner can not run in 2023, since it’s the Constitution that guides every Nigeria.”

“Let Prof. Sagay show us in the Constitution where an individual is forbidden to run for an Election because of his State of origin or Ethnic Group. If we can see that, then we will have a rethink, but for now the GYB2PYB MOVEMENT is key and unstoppable.”

“Again he talked about if it must be a Youth, must it be Governor Yahaya Bello? This is very funny to come from the Prof. Sagay who has only one vote. He may decide not to vote for Governor Yahaya Bello as that is his constitutional right, but that do not stop the majority of Nigerians who have made up their minds to support the Presidential Ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello not to do so.”

“We are talking about Generational Shift of Power, and by the Grace of God, Governor Yahaya Bello is well positioned to answer and secure our mandate in 2023.”

“So, we will kindly suggest and advice Governor Yahaha Bello not to be distracted by the antics of any single individual that is against his ambition. He should remain focused and resolute in the pursuit of his Presidential Ambition come 2023 as we are solidly behind him here in the South South Region” they concluded.
