SUNDAY AKINTOYE

After the Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Libya 3-2 in the returned leg of Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played last Tuesday in Algeria, a Nigerian football agent, Joseph Sunday, has cautioned the three times African champions to remain focused in their next game against Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

Nigeria’s Eagles need at least a draw against South Africa in Johannesburg to book a place in the finals of 2019 AFCON next year. Sunday, who watched the game in Sudan, commended Eagles for beating Libya home and away and admonished them to remain focused in their game against South Africa.

“Nigerians are leading their group now, we should not celebrate yet because we still have two games to determine our destiny. Although we are in a good position to qualify, all we need now is that the Eagles should go to South Africa and beat them at home”he said.

Sunday, who has intermediary license under Sudanese Football Association revealed that if the South Africans beat the Eagles, the country would be under pressure against Seychelles in their last home match. He cautioned the Nigerian team to avoid defeat in South Africa so that their last home match would be a formality.

“Our next match would be a tough one against South Africa. I see that match as a decider for the two countries. We need to go to South Africa and beat them or manage to play a draw so that our last home match would be easy. Don’t forget that when South Africa came to Nigeria last year, we were beaten by two goals to nothing, we can as well do the same to them when we play them next month. Anything short of that, it would be a huge disappointment for Nigerian fans,” he said.

Joseph explained that the current Super Eagles led by Coach Rohr have what it takes to qualify for the next AFCON in Cameroon. He said after the FIFA World Cup, the Eagles have been playing well with sense of determination and zeal.

Sunday who is managing the duo of Eagles players Ifeanyi Edeh and Izu Azuka in Ethiopia revealed to PM EXPRESS that both players scored for Fasil Kaneme FC  in a recent match.

He said both players are in the best form of their lives presently and urged the Eagles coaching crew to monitor these two players in Ethiopia if they can be invited for subsequent Super Eagles matches.

“ Of course I am managing these two players. I had the opportunity to watch them in Ethiopia and they played fantastic game. If Coach Rohr can monitor these two guys, the better for the national team. We have thousand of Nigerian players all over the world but there are some players among them who are merit to play for the national team,” he said.
