The Supreme Council of Igbo traditional rulers a.k.a Ezendigbo, Lagos State, led by Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze, has distanced themseves from a recent trending viral video credited to Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate, Eze Fredrick Nwajiagu, threatening to invite the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra , IPOB, to secure the property of Igbo People in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the group stated that Eze Nwajiagu is not their member and has nothing to do with him or representing the interest of Ndigbo living in State.
Eze Nwajiagu has reportedly been arrested in his hideout in a hotel room at Ejigbo area of Lagos State by a combined team of the Police and DSS operatives.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Chairman, Supreme Council of Ezendigbo, Eze Dr Vincent Iwobi, in a statement, where he expressed shock and disappointment with the trending video.
Eze Iwobi, who is also the Obi of Anioma, spoke on behalf of the highest decision body of Ezendigbo in Lagos, condemned the action by Nwajiagu, stating categorically that his group has nothing to do with the said trending viral video.
”The Supreme Council of Ezendigbo Lagos State hereby disassociate ourselves from Eze Frederick Nwajiagu (Eze Ndigbo Ajao Estate) threat to invite IPOB to Lagos. He is not our member nor our spokesman and indeed Ndigbo Lagos State either. Therefore, he should be held responsible and accountable for his actions.”
Eze Iwobi stated that the Igbo are law abiding and hard working people with legitimate means of living, who believe in peaceful co-existence among the host and other ethnic groups in Lagos State and therefore, do not associate themselves with any form of violence.
“Peaceful co-existence among our landlords and chief hosts remains uppermost in our hearts and duty.”
He urged Ndigbo in Lagos to remain law abiding and go out for their normal business engagements and continue to live in peace and harmony with people around them wherever they reside in Lagos State.
Eze Nwajiagu landed in trouble after the video he recorded went viral on Friday, where he threatened to invite members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra to secure the properties of Igbo people in the state.
He said, “IPOB, we will invite them. They have no job. All of the IPOB will protect all of our shops. And we have to pay them. We have to mobilise for that. We have to do that. We must have our security so that they will stop attacking us at midnight, in the morning, and in the afternoon”.
“When they discover that we have our security, before they will come, they will take caution. I am not saying a single word to be hidden. I am not hiding my words, let my words go viral. Igbo must get their rights and get a stand in Lagos State,” he added.
The purported video drew the attention of team of the Police and DSS, who stormed his palace in Ajao Estate earlier on Saturday morning. But before then, Nwajiagu had fled. He was later traced and arrested in a hotel at Ejigbo. He had been detained and is undergoing interrogation over his conduct.
