Police operatives from the Commissioner of Police Special Squad, Lagos State Command, have arrested a 26-year old lady, Zainab Adeyemi suspected to be an armed robber during an operation.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Zainab, who lives at Ahmed Street in Alakuko area of Ijaiye, was said to have led a gang of armed robbers who raided the residents of Gbamgbose Street off Alakuko, Ijaiye in Ojokoro area of Lagos and disposed them of their mobile phones and cash worth over N1.9m and escaped.
According to the residents, the armed gang came with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons and went from one apartment to the other; forcefully robbed them and escaped unmolested by the Police in the area.
The alleged robbery incident was reported to the Police at the Command, who moved into action and eventually arrested the suspect, Zainab, while others were said to be at large.The Police did not state if they arrested Zainab with the gun alleged as exhibit but said that she and others went for the operation with guns and other dangerous weapons.
She was detained at the Command for several days for interrogation before she was eventually charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and armed robbery.
When he was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.M. Joseph, granted her bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 16th June, 2022.
