Suspects Dock Over Robbery Letter Written To Lagos Residents

Residents of Ejigbo are no longer sleeping with their eyes closed over an incessant robbery attacks and the recent letter sent to them by some unidentified robbers informing them of their coming to rob them in Lagos State, Nigeria.

P.M. EXPRESS gathered that for several weeks, many residents in the Ejigbo community have been brutally attacked and injured. While some who remain in the area have lost their valuables such as phones, money, jewelries, electronics among others due to series of robbery attacks, others have relocated to elsewhere.
The latest threat that has thrown more confusion was the recent letter sent to the residents by the robbers asking them to prepare for their coming.
At the weekend, two suspects, Fatai Taiwo, 19 and Opeyemi Wahab, 20 were arrested and charged to court in connection with the purported letter written to the residents and other criminal activities.
They were arrested by a local vigilante at about 2.00 am recently when, with other members of their gang stormed the area, few days after robbers dispatched and pasted letters to some streets in the area asking them to prepare for them.
Among the streets the letters was pasted include, Edegbeja, Dabiri, Fatusi, NNPC road, Daleko among others.
Although the robbers did not specify the date they will come, they only stated in the letter that the residents should prepare for their visit.
They also warned them that they will deal with those who did not keep money or valuables in their homes.
Following the panic, the residents engaged the service of local vigilante as they claimed that they cannot guarantee police would protect them against the robbers. The engagement of the vigilante paid off as Fatai and Wahab were arrested at the weekend during confrontation between the robbers and the vigilante.                                                   Other suspects escaped and are now at large.
The suspects were handed over to the police at Ejigbo division who charged them to court with conspiracy and attempt to commit felony.
At the Ejigbo Magistrate’s court where they were arraigned, they pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. J.O.E. Adeyemi granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 19 October 2016.
