TAFTA’s Àjọṣe Returns for Third Showcase, Deepening Conversations on Healing, Justice and Women’s Health

Following the success of its first and second showcases, the Terra Academy for the Arts (TAFTA), in partnership with Vision Spring Initiatives (VSI), successfully staged the third showcase of Àjọṣe, a compelling theatrical production and radio drama initiative using creative storytelling to encourage conversations around women’s health, social responsibility, and healing.

The third showcase, held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the Multipurpose Hall, Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, brought together students, creatives and members of the wider community for another engaging theatre experience that combined entertainment with important social conversations.

Building on the strong audience response recorded during the earlier showcases, the latest performance further demonstrated the power of theatre to make complex and often sensitive issues more relatable and accessible.

Through emotionally engaging performances and culturally grounded storytelling, Àjọṣe explored themes of healing, justice, compassion, wellbeing and collective responsibility, with particular attention to conversations surrounding women’s reproductive health.

With each showcase, the production has continued to create spaces where audiences can reflect, engage and openly discuss subjects that are often difficult to address.

The third presentation further strengthened Àjọṣe’s growing impact, demonstrating how creative expression can support education and encourage meaningful behavioural change.

TAFTA, working in partnership with VSI, oversaw the creative development and implementation of the production, ensuring that the storytelling remained engaging, accessible and relevant to young audiences while maintaining the quality and professionalism expected of the initiative.

Mr. JO Umoibom, Academy Lead at TAFTA, also highlighted the importance of maintaining an engaging and youth-centred approach throughout the showcases.

Our focus has been to create an experience that is not only artistically strong but also relevant, accessible and thought-provoking. The performance received strong audience engagement, with moments of laughter, emotion and reflection throughout the production.

The response further highlighted the effectiveness of using culturally relevant storytelling to address sensitive issues while creating a safe environment for dialogue.

Following the success of the first, second and now third showcase, anticipation is building toward the grand finale of Àjọṣe, which will bring the series of performances to a close with another opportunity for audiences to experience the production and engage with its important messages.
