Teacher, 25, Arrested Over S*x With His Student,13

Police operatives from the Ogun State Command have arrested a 25-year old class teacher at a nursery and primary school, Ayobami Oluwatobiloba Runsewe, for allegedly engaging his 13-year old student in sex. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened Ayegbami in Ago Iwoye area of Ogun State, where the teacher resides and the school is located. 

He was arrested on 19th May, 2022 for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim, who was a student in his class.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer,  DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed that the suspect was in Police custody undergoing interrogation over his conduct. 

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi stated that the suspect, Runsewe, was arrested following a report lodged at Ago Iwoye Divisional Headquarters by the girl’s mother, who came to the station with the victim and reported that the suspect lured her to his house at Ayegbami area of Ago Iwoye after school lessons at about 4:30 pm and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

The mother alleged that during the forceful penetration, the suspect defiled the victim and brought blood-soaked pants of the victim to the station as evidence, which was kept in Police custody as exhibit.

Oyeyemi stated that upon the report, the DPO Ago Iwoye, SP Noah Adekanye detailed his detectives to the scene, where the randy teacher was promptly arrested.On interrogation, he initially denied having anything with the victim, but when the victim confronted him, he was unable to say anything further.

DSP Oyeyemi stated that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The teacher risks several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before Court for the alleged offence but that will be after the conclusion of investigation by the Police.
