A 40- year-old Secondary School teacher from Meiran Community Junior High school, Ipaja, Lagos, Mr. Adetunji Charles, has landed in prison after he was caught using his phone to send answers to one of his students during the WAEC examination.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as the Police alleged that the teacher, Mr. Charles, on 16th September, 2019, conspired and encouraged a teenage female student to smuggle mobile phone into the examination hall while writing Literature in English and Mr. Charles was outside solving the questions and was sending it to the student inside the hall.
However, the student ran out of luck and she was caught by the examination invigilator. During interrogation, she mentioned her teacher, Mr. Charles, as the person outside sending the answers to her.
The matter was reported to the Police; Mr. Charles was arrested and transferred to Area G Command, Ogba, for investigation.
During investigation, the Police found him culpable and later charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and cheating during examination.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since the defendant pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Olufunke Sule-Amzat, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter till 5th December, 2019 for mention.
However, Mr. Charles was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
