Director General Of Lagos State Sports Commission, Babatunde Bank-Anthony, has declared that Team Lagos are not at the National Sports Festival for jamboree rather to compete with all medals available in all sports.
Bank-Anthony told P.M.EXPRESS that Team Lagos are fully prepared for the National Sports Festival. boasting that all the athletes are well motivated to do Lagos proud.
“We are set for the National Sports Festival both athletes and the officials. The athletes have been in camp for some weeks and they are well motivated by the Lagos State Government. We are not going to the National Sports Festival for Jamboree but to compete favourably with other states in all sports. We are not worried that some states are poaching athletes and inviting foreign based athletes for the festival, our focus is to see our athletes perform beyond expectations,” he said.
Bank- Anthony was optimistic that Team Lagos would do well considering the support given to the athletes by the Lagos State Government and Lagos State Sports Commission. He said Lagos is not ready to poach ready- made athletes rather the coaches have been developing some athletes discovered from the series of grassroots tournament we have been holding and these set of athletes will represent Lagos in the National Sports Festival.
“National Sports Festival is not a do- or –die affairs because the Lagos State Sports Commission is not ready to poach or invite foreign athletes for the Sports Festival. We are going to make use of the athletes we have and nurture them to stardom,” he said.
In his own comment, a member of the governing board of Lagos State Sports Commission, Abdulazeez Tijani boasted that Team Lagos are ready to give good fights in all sports in the festival and warned other states to prepare for war.
