It was really a mixture of joy and sadness after a 15-year old secondary school girl (name withheld) recently impregnated by a street urchin delivered of a baby boy in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was a thing of joy for her parents in the sense that the baby was delivered safely and sadness on the other hand because the father of the baby was a well known hoodlum in the area.
The incident happened at Ejigbo area where the parties involved in the matter reside.
It was gathered that the teenager who was in SS1 class in a popular secondary school in Ejigbo was usually sneaking out of the school premises during the school hours to sleep with the man simply identified as Taofik.
Taofik was said to have shown the little girl some love, gave her money and bought her gifts she was not getting from her parents.
Beside, the girl was from a family where children were so guided to the extent that they were not allowed to go out except they were going to school.
According to the victim, she always met Taofik at the street bus stop whenever she was going and returning from school.
She said Taofik cared for her and gave her money which she usually added to the little her parents used to give her to take care of her needs.
Taofik was said to have capitalised on that and started sleeping with her almost on a weekly basis until he impregnated her.
When her parents discovered her condition, they withdrew her from the school because of the shame and asked to know who actually was responsible.
She reportedly mentioned Taofik’s name and when her parents tried to contact him, it was then they discovered that he was far from being a responsible man as he lives on the street as a hoodlum.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that when the girl’s parents confronted him, he admitted and offered to marry her but the parents rejected such proposal.
However, this put the parents in a dilemma on what to do with the pregnancy as they consider abortion a no-option.
When P.M.EXPRESS contacted the school management, they confirmed the incident and said since it happened outside the school premises, they have no comment to make on what transpired.
Meanwhile, Taofik was still pleading with the girl’s parents to allow him to marry her since she had a baby for him but the parents refused because of their social status in the society.
The issue also was that the man in question had no identifiable address where he resided.
