A teenager, Joseph Esan, has landed in trouble after he reportedly started his sex life in Lagos with their neighbour’s five year old daughter.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 7th April, 2019, at Ashilo Street in Alagbado area of Lagos where they reside.
The suspect, Esan, was said to have lured the girl into his parents’ apartment when they were not around and defiled her before allowing her to go.
However, the victim could not hide what happened as she was said to have narrated to her mother how Esan had molested her when they were not around. Esan was then confronted but he denied engaging the girl in such. The victim was taken to the hospital where the medical report showed that her private was tempered with and the girl mentioned Esan as being responsible.
The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for investigation.
During interrogation, the police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement.
The court did not take his plea and ordered Esan to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail.
That was after the prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, had asked the Court to grant an order for the file to be sent to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 13th June, 2019, when the Court expects to receive the DPP’s report.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the matter will be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends that he should face trial for the alleged offence.
